Couture week is still alive and designers choose this time to showcase their collections. For many people the idea of Couture may seem dated or snobbish but for a segment of the population the appeal of made-to- measured gowns is still thriving.
The show ended with Leyla Piedayesh holding a sign declaring, “I’M AN IMMIGRANT”. Before I get into the political discussion of that, I want to rewind to the begin of the show. Oh, now that I think about it, you can’t even avoid politics when talking about this collection.
Pastels and embroidery adorned the delicate fabrics. The lines silhouetteting the female body and embellishing the contours. The drapping effect with the beaded gowns made the princess look alive today.
