Seoul Fashion Week part 1

After going to Paris and Japan for the Spring/ Summer collections we made a brief stop in Seoul. The plan was to recharge before heading back home to Texas.  Take in some of the sights in Seoul and enjoy a few fashion shows. This was our first time ever being in Seoul or Korea, we had no expectations just take it a day at a time.  Our only experience of Korea came from what we had seen in movies and Korean drama we had watched.  I love the historical drama and the korean food.

Landing at Incheon airport was a really pleasant experience, going through customs was also a breeze. Things started to get exciting after we picked up our bags and headed out of the terminal. Everything seems normal but one thing seemed different the group of teenage girls with camera running back and forth. It seems that we had arrived at the airport in the mist of some music group or some movie star arriving at the same time. This was the most lively arrival we had ever experienced at any Airport. The effort was very well coordinated, they had spotter and equipment any professional photographer would proud off. That was a brief glance of what we would experience in the next two days of our stay in Seoul.Dongdaemum Design Plaza “DDP”, image credit Akin Abayomi/ Livingfash Media, Seoul Korea

Our first day at Dongdaemum Design Plaza “DDP” was an exciting introduction to the Korean fashion scene. The energy was high ,the colors were vibrant, it was a visual and cultural amalgamation. The people were genuinely friendly from the crew backstage, to the staff at the venue were very pleasant and helpful. The only shows we had on our schedule for the day was R.SHEMISTE and SUPERCOMMA B. So, we took the opportunity of the very light schedule to explore Seoul during the day and to fill-up on the local delicacies. Now that I think about, it we really did not get the chance to see beyond Dongdaemum.Model backstage #BTS for R.Shemiste show at Seoul Fashion Week, DDP, "HERA" FW, asian fashion, Seoul S.Korea Image credit Akin Abayomi/Livingfash Media

Back to fashion, R.SHEMISTE was very energetic, the designs were a mixture between urban incorporated with traditional motif prints.  Heavy presence of denim in the collection, very similar to the non-core look now common in Tokyo but with a new age twist.

A few accessories really stood  in the collection like the baseball hats which were adorned with rings in a way adopting the piercing subculture.

The second show on the schedule was SCB (SuperCOMMA B)  슈퍼콤마비 by designer Bo Hyun Lee 이보현, this was also urban looking collection with a  loose fit and carefree feel. From an un-adorned jumpsuit to the colorful intergalactic sequence pants and skirts. I AM YOUR DREAM SS2016.
